Only daughter of jazz legend, "Hello Ito" Takeshi, Akane grew up in a home that was always resounding from music. She plays both the trumpet and the piano herself, though she mainly sticks to the latter as well as vocals when performing on stage nowadays. Working as a jazz singer in the thriving underground environment in Tokyo, she performs a fusion genre she has dubbed "trash jazz" - a mix of industrial sound and jazz rhythms - and has become a niche star due to her stage presence and her androgynous image.

Akane's mother died when she was four years old and her father never remarried, instead devoting everything to his passion for jazz music. He was a national icon as a trumpet player and passed his love for that instrument as well as several others onto his daughter. While growing up, they'd often perform together, Akane singing and "Hello Ito" accompanying her on his trumpet or the piano. However, after he suddenly died when she was 21, her world collapsed and she briefly enrolled at university to do something conductive with her life, but found the restrictive world of academia boring and meaningless, so she dropped out again and set about finally making a name for herself in music. In ten years, she has managed to build a reputation and a decent following and can actually live for the money she earns this way.

She doesn't define her sexuality very strictly, she has dated both men and women, though she tends towards female-leaning, if she's hard-pressed to put words to it. Her longest relationship was two years and she has been single for a while at this point. It's not a problem, she enjoys her own company.
